Rokit has commissioned CHRISTOPHER SIMS and EMMA RICE to design and stage the windows for their flag ship shop in London’s West End. They have just preformed their new installation window entitled “Kitchen Sink Drama”

Sims had to say, as part of this live installation window in Rokit, we have had some great support from actors and friend throughout the London art scene who have given us there time to play out there idea of kitchen sink drama.

We were approached with the idea of having celebrities play out the drama, but I was totally against this idea proffering to use more diverse underground artist who mostly come from this type of background. For us this wasn’t a way of producing a piece of work that could then become anti commercial or unobtainable to the general public. You can’t really get more commercial or obtainable than the high st, but we have totally turned the whole shop window image on its head.

It has been great fun to see the reactions of passers by on there way to work, or tourists completely unaware with how our artists have played out kitchen sink drama, and with the support of the ROKIT team we have managed to bring art performance and installation in to two shop windows in the heart of the West End.

Rokit have given us a gallery where every one can see our work's even if they didn’t know it was happening rather than a conventional gallery, where only a hand full of people see the creative collaboration and installation. They haven’t attempted to tame our ideas, if any thing they have encouraged us to be cheeky and diverse.

With Rokit being a vintage clothing store, we haven’t been tied in with being commercially censured by the shop; if we had this whole project would never have happened.

All of our actors that span a wide range of the art and theater scene are renowned for there individuality and personal approach to there own ideas, and often collaborate with one another in separate productions.

Part of the idea of producing these live windows was for us as a group of artists to collaborate in a visual drama where we could for one interact with one another, have this time to be working on the same body of work and finally to enjoy each others company as so often we get warped within our own project and commercial works finding no time to connect.

You will find that our proformers have been credited with majour shows on the west end stage, broadway production, feature films, have been major muses for some of the largest international artists including Andy Warhole, so obviously you will understand the diversity and originality of who we are involved with.

We can not thank our artists enough for there support and excitement at being involved with our productions, thats why we consider them part of the creative process and part of the team in producing these live windows and events.
